By climbing Mount Kilimanjaro with Trek for Change you can be sure that you will have an experience of a lifetime on your journey to the roof of Africa. Trek for Change operates on two routes to the summit, both with their own benefits and challenges.
The Rongai route is the only route that approaches Kilimanjaro from the north so it is more of a remote hike with low climber traffic. It is the best route to attempt during the rainy season as there is less precipitation on the northern side. It is also the recommended for those with little backpacking experience. The scenery is not as varied or as stunning as you find on the other routes.
The Machame route is the most popular route on the mountain and is considered to be scenically beautiful and varied. It is a more difficult trek and your walks are longer each day. 6 days are required for this route however 7 days are recommended to acclimatise better.
Climbers sleep in 2 person tents at the designated campsites and eat meals outdoors or inside a large dining tent. Staff prepare all meals and set up the tents.
Following the Trek you will be engaged with the IBSH staff and students in Tanzania, see and participate in the school building projects and meet students that IBSH is supporting.
